Türkiye-ICAO Relations:

Türkiye;

* has been a party to the Chicago Convention by signing the Convention the on7thDecember 1944; ratifying on 5thJune 1945.

* has among the members on the Interim Council (1946 - 47) and on the 1stCouncil (1947- 50).

* has been and is fully committed to ICAO’s strategic objectives; safety, security, environmental protection and sustainable growth of global civil aviation in by establishing international standards and recommended practices for the world’s civil aviation community.

* has maintained a Permanent Delegation at the ICAO’s Headquarters since 1990 and thus been closely following the work of the Council, Air Navigation Commission and Committees and participating in most ICAO meetings, seminars, panels and working groups.

* had remarkable progress with regard to every aspect of civil aviation over the last decade.

* is the 17th largest contributor to the ICAO’s budget.

* contributes to the work of the ICAO’s Secretariat and its Regional Offices with seconded experts.

* has been re-elected to the ICAO Council for the period 2016-2019 by receiving 156 votes of 172 member states at the39thICAO Assembly.

* acquired support and endorsement of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) for its candidature to Council membership.

* spares no effort in upholding the strategic objectives of the Organization and works closely with all countries and aviation partners to strengthen the safety, security, efficiency environmental integrity and sustainable growth of the world civil aviation.

Türkiye’s Aviation Sector:

* The world’s largest airport with 150 million annual passenger capacity in Istanbul has been opened on 29 October 2018.

* 90.2 million international passengers landed in Türkiye in 2021.

* Türkiye has 54 international and 14 domestic airports.

* 241 foreign airline companies operate to Türkiye.

* Number of Turkish registered aircraft fleet has reached over 550 in 2022.

* Turkish Airlines operates to 339 cities (including domestic)as of November 2022.

* Türkiye has signed bilateral civil aviation agreements with 171 ICAO Member States.

* TAI – Turkish Aerospace Industry is one of the fastest growing aerospace companies in the world, Hürkuş training aircraft has received EASA civil type certificate in 2016.
